FAQs
Jewel Box Steak is an elevated, intimate dining experience. To help ensure a seamless visit, we recommend reviewing our FAQ before your reservation.
How do reservations work?
JBS uses RESY to book tables both in the dining room and bar (21+).
Reservation availability opens on the first of each month at 8:00 AM for the entire upcoming month (e.g., March 1 for all of March, April 1 for all of April).
For large parties of more than six, you’re welcome to inquire about availability for special arrangements by texting Jewel Box Steak host at (503-484-0538). We respond to these requests Wednesday through Saturday each week.
Do you accept walk-ins?
Yes, we have a limited number of tables available for walk-ins each night, typically earlier in the evening or after 7:30 PM. You can also sign up for the "Notify" option on RESY to be alerted if a cancellation opens up a spot.
What’s the difference between a “Bar Top”, “Bar High Top”, and “Dining Room” seating reservation?
Bar Top seating is at the bar itself and offers a more casual atmosphere. Guests here have access to both the Bar Menu and the full Dining Room Menu.
Bar High Top tables are located in the bar area and are typically set for two guests. Like Bar Top seating, they offer both the Bar and Dining Room menus.
Dining Room seating is in a more formal setting with standard dining tables and service from the Dining Room Menu only.
Important Reservation Info:
Reservations made for Bar Top or Bar High Top seating are assigned to bar area tables, not the main dining room.
There is very limited availability to switch to the dining room upon arrival.
If you reserve for two in the bar area, adding additional guests upon arrival is usually not possible, as nearby seats are often already reserved.
Arriving with your full party at the designated reservation time leads to a graciously paced dining experience. Arriving late increases the pace of service based on following reservations.

How do I make a special request?
Whether you’d like to pay for a guest’s meal, inquire about a lost item, or ask about dietary accommodations, send us a text message at 503-484-0538—ideally before service. Please note that during busy hours, responses may be delayed.
If you’ve left something behind, we’ll secure it for pickup the following service day at 4 PM.
Why don’t you have a phone number to call?
Reservations and cancellations should be managed through RESY. To maintain a distraction-free dining experience, we limit communication to messaging only. You can message us for specific inquiries, such as large parties of 7+ or other questions. Our team monitors messages Wednesday–Saturday.
What is your corkage fee?
Guests are welcome to bring a special bottle from their own collection to enjoy. Our corkage fee is $40 per 750ml bottle and $65 for large format bottles. For larger groups with multiple bottles, we kindly ask that for every two bottles brought in, you purchase one from our thoughtfully curated wine list.
Are children welcome?
JBS is designed for guests ages 10 and up. We don’t have accommodations for young children.
How do I handle special requests or dietary needs?
When booking through RESY, you can note any special requests or dietary needs, such as gluten-free options or nut allergies. You’re also welcome to mention if you're celebrating a birthday or special occasion.
Can I bring a special dessert or cake for a birthday?
Yes! Please note your request in RESY. We charge a nominal plating fee of $3 per person.
Is the full dinner menu available at the bar?
Yes.
